Porsche’s compact-sized, luxury, crossover Macan became an instant success after the debut in 2015 and now it is brand’s best-selling model. The Macan provides plenty of power and agile ride combined with the extensive use of sophisticated tech and comfort features. The most affordable Porsche is rival for the names such as the BMW X3 and X4, Audi Q5, and Mercedes GLC.
The agile Macan crossover received extensive mid-update for the 2019 model year with the introduction of the new engines, refreshed styling, new infotainment system and other features. There were also some chassis tuning and color options for the recently refreshed Macan.
As for the future upgrades, the next 2020 Porsche Macan should bring more options to the current range of the base an S versions. The Macan GTS and Turbo should join the lineup soon but the brand hasn’t specified exactly when. Porsche sad however that the compact crossover will get an electric version in the early 2020s and what’s more, the next generation Macan could become fully electric.
2020 Porsche Macan: Powertrains, Performance
The Macan uses the previous generation Audi Q5 platform and Porsche updated the components for the recent refresh. With the widened front track and lighter front suspension components, retuned spring and damping rates and anti-roll bars and new engine mounts, the Macan provides even more agile ride. The offer of the different suspension options allow also a wide range of configurations and buyers can combine steel springs with conventional or adjustable dumpers or pick adjustable springs and adjustable dampers.
The base 2020 Porsche Macan will have a 2.0-liter turbocharged inline-4 engine under the curved hood. With the power production of 248 hp, this version will need 6.1 seconds to reach 60 mph.
A more potent S version will pack a single-turbo 3.0-liter V-6 engine and down the 60-mph run to 5.1 seconds. The engine makes 348 hp and torque of 354 pound-feet. Porsche will again mix these engines with the fast-shifting 7-speed PDK dual-clutch transmission. The standard fitment will also be the all-wheel drive which when needed can route all power to the front wheels but by default, about 80 percent of the moment goes to the rear wheels.
The Macan Turbo is also expected to appear soon and should adopt a 2.9-liter V-6 from the larger Cayenne. A twin-turbo 2.9L-V-6 unit should produce about 434 horsepower and could get a unique transmission system. Porsche should also the GTS version with the performance somewhere between the base and Turbo models.
2020 Porsche Macan: Design
The 2020 Porsche Macan will continue to live on the recent styling updates until the next redesigned but the new versions will appear with the unique cues.
The Macan uses the brand’s familiar styling scheme which just evolves with the time and that is a good thing. The recent refresh added new rounded headlights and 3D LED taillight strip. Porsche altered also the styling of the bumpers.
The new model year will bring new color options and likely wheel options sizing up to 21 inches. The Turbo version will also have a unique styling treatment if it arrives for the 2020 model year. The new version will have a unique design of the bumpers and air intakes and a few other special trim details.
The interior of the model will remain in the same form with the unique cues in the new version.
The sports feel dominates in model’s cabin and it has supportive seats and small steering wheel combined with modern tech and convenience features.
The model will provide 18-way adjustable sports seats, Alcantara trim, three-zone climate control, wood, aluminum and carbon fiber inserts, etc. A large 10.9-inch center display will come with navigation, smartphone compatibility, wireless hotspot, premium sound system and more.
The Macan will also come equipped with modern safety technologies. The buyers will get standard parking sensors and lane departure warning. Available will also be adaptive cruise control, surround vision system, active lane control and blind-spot monitoring.
2020 Porsche Macan: Release, Price
The next 2020 Porsche Macan with the likely new versions should arrive late in the year. The agile and powerful, compact, crossover will again start in the vicinity of $50, 000.
