Nissan has just made the compact-size Nissan Roque Sport more handsome and safer. The updated 2020 Nissan Roque Sport pulled the wraps off at the 2019 Chicago Auto Show to reveal the adoption of the brand’s newest design language and the robust standard suite of the active safety systems. The new Rogue Sport hasn’t, unfortunately, addressed the underpowered performance and the model continues with the same unit under the hood.
Outside the US, the Rogue Sport is marketed as the Nissan Qashqai and the model received the refresh for the 2019 model year with the updated styling, engine range and tech. The Rogue Sport returns in three trim versions including S, SV and SL versions.
2020 Nissan Roque Sport: Design
The 2020 Nissan Roque Sport has got the refreshed front and rear fascia and regarding the styling the changes bring the model in line with the most recent models in brand’s lineup like the Nissan Altima.
The updated model comes with the new front bumper and updated headlights. The new grille style combined with the reworked bumper forms a more open and modern V-motion design while revised LED running lights also improve the impression. Nissan added also a pair of new color options to the exterior color palette including lime green and orange.
The rear received the new taillights and bumper. The exterior changes are rounded up with the new wheel options with the size up to 19 inches.
The 2020 Rogue Sport hasn’t changed the in-cab design. The model has the same dashboard layout with the standard 7-inch center screen and Apple Car Play and Android Auto support. The three-spoke, sports-design steering wheel with the mounted controls and horizontal-oriented air vents define also the dashboard.
Nissan made, however, the advanced safety systems available on all versions. Every Rogue Sport will rely on lane departure warning, automatic emergency braking with pedestrian detection, rear emergency braking, blind spot monitoring, automatic high beam headlights and rear cross-traffic alert.
2020 Nissan Roque Sport: Powertrain
With the new round of updates, the 2020 Nissan Roque Sport looks more modern and broad range of the standard active safety measurements makes it more desirable and safer but the underpowered engine remains the same. Under the hood of the refreshed model will again be a 2.0-liter inline-4 engine paired with the continuously automatic variable transmission system. The engine delivers 141 horsepower and torque of 147 pound-feet.
The front-wheel drive will be standard while the power on all wheels will also be achievable. The Rogue Sport will also keep the current fuel economy ratings with 25 mpg city and 32 mpg highway with the power on the front wheels. The four-wheel drive will reduce the score to 24/30 mpg city/highway.
2020 Nissan Roque Sport: Release, Price
The beautified and safer 2020 Nissan Roque Sport will go on sale this fall. The price will emerge closer to the launch date but should start at a slightly higher point than the current $22, 240.
