Nissan’s unconventionally styled, compact Juke crossover faced with the slow sales in the US and brand discontinued the model while launched more conventional Nissan Kicks. The Juke with its striking appearance was the class of its own when started the journey in 2011 and despite being widely criticized and discontinued in some markets, the model will get one more chance and the prototype version was recently spotted while testing.
The all-new, 2020 Nissan Juke should be a few months from the debut as the latest reports and spy photos suggest. What is known so far, the model should switch to the new platform and be available with the range of powertrain options inducing gasoline and petrol units. The hybrid version should also appear at some point.
The new generation Juke will also arrive with the modernized styling and more refined interior while retaining plenty of its “strange” design cues of the current generation.
2020 Nissan Juke: Design
The redesigned 2020 Nissan Juke will enter the new generation on the new platform and the brand should fit CMF-B architecture which debuted in the 2014 Rogue. The platform is a product of Renault Nissan Mitsubishi alliance and allows electrification.
With the new platform, the new generation Juke will also adopt the brand’s new design langue while the spy photos suggest very similar shape and size as it is the case with the current version. The model should, actually, keep the same styling vibe as well with the similar cues as on current variant especially on the front end. The floating roofline, swollen fenders and familiar shape will also make the model easy recognizable.
The front section of the new Juke seems to have a similar three-part lighting arrangement but with the modified headlights and DRLs. The grille is also the new V-motion design similar to what we can see on the latest Leaf.
The rear side seems to have replaced the boomerang-shaped taillights for the new, horizontal design similar to that of the Nissan Rogue Sport.
Details about the interior design are scarce but a new platform should provide improved in-cab comfort. Nissan is expected also to use more premium materials and add more upscale features.
The dash design should include the floating center touchscreen equipped with the latest infotainment system and smartphone compatibility. The sports-design steering wheel and unique trim pieces will also define a model’s interior design.
Nissan will also equip the uniquely styled Juke with the newest safety technologies and make most of them available on all versions.
2020 Nissan Juke: Powertrains
As for the engines’ range, Nissan should use a wide lineup of options depending on the market. The 2020 Nissan Juke should also get the hybrid powertrain in the later phase.
The engine range should include small 1.0-liter and 1.3-liter displacements in some markets. The model will also offer four-cylinder petrol and diesel units but later won’t be available in the US. Nissan might also replace the CVT gearbox with the 7-speed DCT. The four-wheel drive will be optional.
2020 Nissan Juke: Arrival, Price
The 2020 Nissan Juke should lose the wraps later in the year when we will know more details. The price is also unknown yet but shouldn’t deviate far from the current.
