The 2020 Lincoln Corsair is another all-new crossover SUV from Ford’s premium subsidiary and the replacement for the Lincoln MKC. Based on its compact size and equipment level, the model is the rival for other premium vehicles such as the Audi Q5, Acura MDX, Mercedes GLC, Cadillac XT5 and Volvo XC60.
The brand’s new, entry-level utility vehicle gets attention with the slick exterior styling which hides the underpinning of the new Ford Escape. It has two rows of seats combined with premium interior design and comfort features and the Corsair gets also all of the brand’s latest technologies.
The new compact crossover SUV will be motivated by two, turbocharged EcoBoost engines and the carmaker promised the plug-in hybrid at the later date. There will also be a sophisticated all-wheel-drive system and different driving modes.
2020 Lincoln Corsair: Design
The 2020 Lincoln Corsair replaces the MKC model and comes based on the C2 platform which underpins the new Ford Escape and global Kuga model.
The Corsair measures 180.6 inches in length and rides on the identical 106.7-inches wheelbase as the Ford Escape. The model is 76.2 inches wide and 64.1 inches tall. Compared to the MKC model, the Corsair is 2 inches longer and wider and has 0.8 inches longer wheelbase which translates to more interior space.
Visually, the Lincoln Corsair successfully hides Ford’s roots with Lincoln’s specific sheet metal and styling elements. Interior of the model supports the luxury feel and comes equipped with tons of comfort and latest tech features.
The in-cab design is defined with the horizontally oriented dash and the infotainment screen sits atop the middle of the dash while some controls are situated on the center console.
The model also maximizes the interior flexibility by using the rear seat mechanism allowing the fore and aft slide of the seas for up to six inches giving passengers a possibility to maximize the rear leg room or the cargo capacity. Behind the rear row, the model provides 28 cubic feet of space while the maximum is 58 cubic feet.
As for the available equipment, the new compact-sized Lincoln SUV comes with the modern tech and premium comfort feature maximizing also the safety of passengers.
The base version will include 10-way power and heated front seats with driver memory setting and active noise control. The top-spec models will get 24-way power seats with massaging function.

The model uses also almost all possible safety systems including active lane control, forward collision warning with automatic emergency braking and pedestrian detection as the base systems. It can equip additionally semi-auto parking system, speed-sight recognition system, adaptive cruise control and a front sensing system.
2020 Lincoln Corsair: Powertrains
The 2020 Lincoln Corsair will rely on the turbocharged four-cylinder units for the power delivery and add the plug-in hybrid option at the later date.
The base propulsion system will use a 2.0-liter turbocharged four-banger making 250 horsepower and torque of 275 pound-feet. More horsepower will be available with the 2.3-liter turbo-4 engine under the hood. This unit will score 280 horsepower and 310 pound-feet of torque.
No matter what engine is used an 8-speed automatic transmission will be in the combination. The front-wheel drive will be standard with the base engine and all-wheel drive available while a more potent powerplant will come with the all-wheel drive only.
