The 2020 Land Rover Range Rover Sport continues the trend of getting some upgrades each year. The model was all-new for the 2014 model year and has received upgrades since then annually. The 2018 model year brought significant refresh including improved interior and new infotainment system with the second touchscreen. The model replaced recently the supercharged V-6 engine with the new turbocharged inline-6 unit.
As for the 2020 version, the biggest news is the addition of the new four-cylinder plug-in hybrid powertrain. The new Land Rover PHEV version will be known as P400s and be available in HSE and Autobiography trims. There will again be turbodiesel unit and V-8-powered version. The new model year brings also Apple Car Play and Android Auto as standard features. The model will also make some changes in the equipment organization and add new wheel design. The Range Rover Sport will also come with the mixed body colors.
2020 Land Rover Range Rover Sport: Powertrains
The 2020 Land Rover Range Rover Sport expands the already long range of powertrain options with the new electrified version. The new model year introduces the P400s version which is the plug-in hybrid variant with the 2.0-liter inline-4 engine combined with a 105-kW electric motor a 13.1-kWh battery pack. The system will provide the combined output of 395 hp and torque of 472 pound-feet. The new plug-in hybrid version should achieve 22 miles of all-electric range as Land Rover claims. Recharging the battery with the 220-volt power supply should take 2.75 hours.
Buyers will again be able to pick a turbocharged inline-6 engine combined with a 48-volt electric system powering an auxiliary compressor. The SE and HSE versions will get 355 hp and torque of 365 pound-feet from the gasoline inline-6 engine. Upgrade to the HST trim and the output will be 395 hp and 406 pound-feet of torque.
The diesel-powered Range Rover Sport will again be available with the 3.0-liter V-6 engine under the hood. This oil-burner will deliver 254 hp and torque of 443 pound-feet.
The most potent Range Rover Sport will again be with the 5.0-liter V-8 installed. This engine can be had in the HSE and Autobiography trims where will make 518 hp and torque of 461 pound-feet. Choose the SVR version and V-8 will provide 575 hp and torque of 516 pound-feet there.
All versions will be four-wheel drive with the 8-speed automatic transmission.
2020 Land Rover Range Rover Sport: Design
The 2020 Land Rover Range Rover Sport won’t change the way it looks. There will just be some changes in the color pallet and new wheel design.
For the new model year, the model will change from Lorie Blue to Portofino Blue and Corris Grey will be replaced with Eiger Grey. The new will also be 22-inch black wheels.
The new Range Rover Sport will provide supreme comfort inside the cabin combined with gorgeous style. There won’t be notable changes in the interior style. The model will offer Apple car Play and Android Auto in all versions from the new model year.
The trim range will again start with SE version which comes with LED headlights, a self-leveling air suspension, keyless entry and ignition, a power liftgate, etc. This version will also include 14-way power front seats, leather upholstery, Wi-Fi, navigation, HD and satellite radio, eight speakers, smartphone compatibility, and more. The safety will ensure lane departure warning, parking sensors, forward collision warning, low-speed automatic emergency braking and a rearview camera. Additional packages add blind-spot monitoring, rear cross-traffic alert, and 360-degree cameras.
The next in range HSE version adds a hands-free tailgate, heated front row, 13 speakers, upgraded upholstery. The P400e version will have 19 speakers. There will also be an off-road package available with a low range transfer case and terrain modes.
The HST trim will cover off-road package by default as well as a unique interior with ventilated sport front seats and heated rear seats. This version will also get black-themed exterior and tri-zone climate control.
The Autobiography model will have a heated steering wheel, premium leather upholstery, surround view cameras, 22-way power front seats, etc.
The SVR will combine the most powerful engine with the sport-tuned suspension, unique interior and exterior styling, and sport seats.
2020 Land Rover Range Rover Sport: Release, Price
The 2020 Land Rover Range Rover Sport will be available by the end of the year. The new PHEV version will be available from $97, 245. The Autobiography trim with the plug-in hybrid powertrain will cost $131, 595. The price range will start from $68, 650.
