Lincoln has the eye for the style and luxury and the refreshed 2019 Lincoln MKX is ready to become your favorite vehicle. The MKX has been brand’s best-selling nameplate in the US and the refreshed version will likely keep that title but with some notable changes. First of all, the refreshed MKX won’t arrive as the 2019 Lincoln MKX as Lincoln applies new naming convention for this model starting from the 2019 model year. The refreshed version will go on sale as the 2019 Lincoln Nautilus and with notable changes in styling, equipment, and powertrains.
Lincoln started changing the MK naming scheme when the Continual replaced the MKS and the MKX will now be rechristened to Nautilus. Other models with the MK nomenclature will also get new names when getting next update.
2019 Lincoln MKX: New name and fresh styling
The refreshed 2019 Lincoln MKX comes as the Nautilus and with brand’s new styling elements and cues but it is still the Edge-based crossover. If you are asking us we loved Lincoln’s unique split-wing design but it is gone on the new Nautilus version. Instead, there is, of course, the mesh, rectangular grille design that debuted on the Continental model. The new headlights units are thinner while the front bumper design is similar as on the current version.
The refreshed model also has resculpted hood, new side badging and we like crisper body lines. The rear is also similar to the current design but everything looks more elegant. There are six new wheel designs.
Inside, the changes are not so obvious as on the outside. However, Lincoln changed the height and track of seats to improve the rear-seat comfort. The steering wheel is also new. Lincoln will also offer new trim themes with new materials and accents. Available will also be Ultra comfort seats with up to 22-way adjustable function and lumbar massage. Buyers will also love the Revel sound system with 13 or 19 speakers.
The Nautilus will also get the new 12.3-inch instrument panel like the recently redesigned Continental and Navigator. The new model will also gain upgraded safety equipment and standard Sync3 infotainment system. The crossover will include upgraded cruise control with stop and go functionality. A lane centering will improve the active lane control. There will also be automatic emergency braking, blind-spot monitoring, active park assist, etc.
2019 Lincoln MKX: Powertrain
The new 2019 Lincoln Nautilus comes with all engines turbocharged. The base engine will be a familiar 2.0-liter turbo-4. This engine pumps 245 hp. The new base engine replaces the 3.7-liter V-6 which produces 303 hp but the new version will be more efficient.
If one wants more excitement while driving, a 2.7-liter twin-turbo V-6 will deliver. This engine will produce 335 hp and torque of 380 pound-feet. Both engines benefit from stop/start functionality, direct injection and independent twin variable camshaft timing.
The only transmission system will be a new 8-speed automatic. No word about the fuel economy yet.
2019 Lincoln MKX: Arrival, Price
Expect the new 2019 Lincoln MKX to go on sale next spring. The refreshed model should start at around $40k.
