Jeep’s range of SUV models have been under revision in last years and Jeep will continue upgrading high-riding vehicles in years to come. We saw recently redesigned Compass model with Grand Cherokee-inspired design and more capable and sophisticated new Wrangler. Jeep recently presented refreshed Cherokee model with more conservative styling and new turbo engine. The pint-sized Renegade will also receive the mid-cycle refresh for the 2019 model year while Wagoneer/Grand Wagoneer models should also arrive in about two or three years. Yes, but what’s about Jeep’s mainstream SUV, the Grand Cherokee.
Well, expect nothing much from the upcoming 2019 Jeep Grand Cherokee. Based on what we know so far, this vehicle will return as the carryover model while the next-gen Grand Cherokee is expected as the 2020 version. Expectations are, that Jeep will retain winning formula while will improve model’s performance and efficiency and add latest technologies for the new-generation version. The 2019 model will likely add more standard features and possibly additional infotainment option. Some changes are also expected in the equipment organization.
2019 Jeep Grand Cherokee: Design
From the visual point of view, the Grand Cherokee is the timeless mix of modern and traditional. We don’t expect Jeep will change this formula with the next-gen version. We also saw that redesigned Compass adopted styling cues from the Grand Cherokee model. The refreshed Jeep Cherokee also brought its styling closer to that form.
So, the 2019 Jeep Grand Cherokee won’t change the way it looks. We do not expect some radical changes on the new-generation Grand Cherokee either. The 2019 version will start with the 17-inch wheel and continue with 18- and 20-inch alloys in upper trims. Each trim will also bring unique styling elements with details hinting model’s off-road, on-road, performance or luxury purpose.
Interior of the model will also continue in the familiar form while each trim will bring unique theme and equipment level. All models will at least include 7-inch touchscreen interface, dual-zone auto climate control, keyless entry and ignition, six speakers, etc.
Upper trims will bring improved comfort features, different leather upholstery options, upgraded 8.4-inch infotainment system, upgraded hardware, unique exterior and interior themes and more.
Jeep might also offer even larger touchscreen option and more active safety systems as standard.
2019 Jeep Grand Cherokee: Performance
The 2019 Jeep Grand Cherokee will likely return with five powertrain options, several all-wheel-drive systems, and different suspension setups. The new-gen version should bring mild-hybridization for better performance and efficiency plus turbocharged four-cylinder engine.
The base model will use 3.6-liter V-6 providing 295 hp.
Buyers will be able to opt for the 5.7-liter Hemi V-8 with 360 horsepower.
Next level of efficiency will provide a 3.0-liter turbodiesel V-6.
The SRT version will have a 6.4-liter V-8 under the hood combined with the specialized four-wheel drive system and the sport-tuned suspension.
The last year added Trackhawk will include 707 hp supercharged 6.2-liter V-8. We must say that this version is the fastest and most powerful SUV version on the market.
Both engine types (V6 and V8) are paired with the 8-speed automatic transmission. The V6 models come with a rear-wheel drive as standard, while all-wheel drive is optional. However, the models with V8 engines come with only AWD.

The 2019 Jeep Grand Cherokee will appear in the second half of 2018. The price range will stay close to current $31k-$86k range. It will adopt new features that you have already noticed in the new Jeep Cherokee.
The Laredo model will still be the most affordable version and it is priced at $31.500. The price for the higher trims can go up to $40.000. The new generation price can vary significantly depending on performance and accessories.
So, the Trailhawk version starts just a bit over $ 44.000, and for the Summit version, you must set aside more than $ 50.000. The high-performance 2019 Jeep Grand Cherokee SRT version is priced at $ 68.000, while the price for the Trackhawk version starts at $86.000 and can go above six figures.
