2019 Hyundai Santa Fe new spy shots and redesign news

After Hyundai refreshed its seven-seat Santa Fe for the 2017 model year, Korean brand is now working on the fourth-generation version of this vehicle. The redesigned Santa Fe will come as the 2019 Hyundai Santa Fe and the heavily camouflaged prototype was already spotted while testing in Germany. Based on what we can see from the spy photos, the next iteration of the Santa Fe will get new styling elements which follow brand’s design language seen on the teaser pictures of the upcoming Kona SUV. The new version should also move upmarket and we expect more premium interior. The new styling and interior will come with the improved and more efficient engine options.

2019 Hyundai Santa Fe: New Styling

Judging by the spy photos, the new 2019 Hyundai Santa Fe will exhibit some notable styling changes when it arrives. Hyundai wrapped the prototype model in the thick camo but despite it can’t hide that new model will sport a new face and altered body lines.

It is obvious from the spy pictures, that upcoming Santa Fe will adopt a new grille and lighting design which follow the same path as the new Kona SUV. The teaser images Hyundai released of the Kona SUV can give us an idea about the new lighting arrangement the new Santa Fe will get. The new split design includes the upper strip of LED running lights which sit above the main projector headlights which have their position on the either side of the grille. The grille of the model also features a new design and it ditches the horizontal bars in favor of the honeycomb mesh. The new grille version called Cascading grille design will debut on the Elantra GT.

The model also seems to have more pronounced fender lines while looks less edgy than the current version. The rear side, on the other hand, seems to have sharper LED accentuated taillights and this prototype has dual exhaust setup.

Interior, Features:

As for the interior of the new Santa Fe, photographers haven’t been able to get some pictures. However, we should expect to get nicer trims and new infotainment system.  The new Santa Fe should also ride on the longer wheelbase which would improve the comfort of passengers and cargo capacity.

On the other hand, Hyundai added an array of advanced safety features for the 2017 model year but will continue to improve model’s safety ratings with the new autonomous tech.

2019 Hyundai Santa Fe: Powertrains

Unfortunately, there is no any sign about what engine options the new 2019 Hyundai Santa Fe would offer. The current version comes with the V-6 engine only in the US. The new generation Santa Fe should again get the power from some version of the V-6 engine.  However, the turbocharged four-cylinder unit like the one in the Sonata is also the candidate. Hyundai will also offer the diesel engine in Europe, probably the upgraded version of the current 2.2-liter turbo diesel. The diesel might also travel over the Atlantic.

On the other hand, we also expect Hyundai to replace the current six-speed automatic transmission with the more efficient 8-gear automatic. The base front- and optional all-wheel drive will again be available.

2019 Hyundai Santa Fe: arrival, Price

The 2019 Hyundai Santa Fe should land in showrooms late next year. The price should not start much higher from the current $30, 800.
