The full-size, three-row Tahoe competes with several remaining truck-based SUVs like recently redesigned Ford Expedition, Nissan Armada and refreshed Toyota Sequoia. The Tahoe is the rugged workhorse capable to tow up to 8, 600 pounds and seat up to nine people. The model delivers traditional drive feel and comes equipped with modern tech and safety features.
The redesigned version arrived for the 2015 model year and the last version brought the desirable RST Performance Edition. An upcoming version, the 2019 Chevy Tahoe will continue with tech updating and could also bring more standard features and some changes in equipment organization. The engine options will remain the same but the 10-speed automatic transmission could become available in more trims.
2019 Chevy Tahoe: Design
Like the current version, the 2019 Chevy Tahoe will continue on GM’s GMTK2XX platform which also makes the base of the Chevy Suburban, GMC Yukon, Cadillac Escalade and GM’s light-duty trucks. The styling will also take the familiar form and notable changes are not expected before 2020 or 2021 model year.
The model will return with a familiar boxy body and strength lines. Chevy’s two-piece grille and headlights will define model’s front end. More or less chrome will be on model’s exterior depending on the trim while the RST package will feature body color treatment around the blacked-out grille, headlights, bumpers, and others.
For the new model year, Chevy will likely offer new color options and wheel designs which currently range from 18- to 22 inches.
Inside the cabin, the new Tahoe will also be the familiar story. The model will provide very comfortable first and middle row while the third row won’t be so generous. The max cargo capacity will be nearly 95 cubes with only first row of seats functional. Buyers will still have 53 cubes at disposal with the middle row is in the function. Behind the third row, one can count on 15.3 cubes.
As for the available equipment, the model will likely return with the same trim options, the LS, LT and Premier. The RST packages and off-road-oriented Z71 equipment will also be available.
The model will also offer the up-to-date MyLink Infotainment system, WiFi hotspot, navigation, premium sound system, etc. The bundle of advanced safety systems will also make the drive easier. The modes will include parking sensors, blind-spot system, rear cross traffic alert, adaptive cruise control, etc.
2019 Chevy Tahoe: Powertrains
The 2019 Chevy Tahoe will continue to exploit familiar engine options. The base engine for the Tahoe is 5.3-liter V-8. This engine produces 355 hp and torque of 383 pound-feet. This engine comes in the combination with the six-speed automatic transmission but for the new model year, a 10-speed automatic could also come to the combination.
Available will also be a 6.2-liter V-8 which for this model debuted in the RST package and only on Premier trim. This engine makes 420 hp and torque reaches 460 lb-ft. The transmission combined with this engine is a 10-speed automatic.
The model will be available with the rear wheel drive but also with either single or two-speed transfer case all-wheel drive. Available will also be upgraded brakes, sport and off-road-tuned suspension, etc.
2019 Chevy Tahoe: Release date, Price
The 2019 Chevy Tahoe will arrive in the third period of 2018 as Chevy usually does. The price will again start at high-40k and exceed 60k in model’s top forms.
