Toyota refreshed the RAV4 lineup with the new special edition Adventure version for the 2018 model year. The 2018 Toyota RAV4 Adventure pulled the wraps off at the 2017 Chicago Auto Show. The model is nice refreshment for the lineup but if the Adventure associates you to the serious off-roading you shouldn’t be too much excited as this model is more focused on the adventurous look than the substantial off-road hardware upgrade.
With taller riding height the RAV4 Adventure will provide a little extra off-road capability but limiting factors remain the lack of the more power, all-terrain tires, beefed off-road hardware, etc. On the other hand, more rugged exterior look and nice touches inside the cabin bring more excitement to model’s lineup. The model also comes with the standard Tow Prep Package and Toyota Safety Sense-P package.
2018 Toyota RAV4 Adventure: Adventurous look
The most effort Toyota invested to the look of the new 2018 Toyota RAV4 Adventure. The model is the most rugged-looking RAV4. The slightly elevated suspension is combined with the unique 18-inch wheels which feature five-spoke design finished in black. Above the wheels are oversized fender flares with black moldings. The black accents can also be seen on the headlights and fog lights. The model also features lower body guards, roof rails and Adventure badges. Toyota will also offer Silver Sky Metallic, Magnetic Grey Metallic, Ruby Flare Pearl, White and Black body shades.
Interior of the models will also be treated with the unique touches. The Adventure model brings unique interior trim panels combined with leather wrapped shift knob and contrasting stitching on the steering wheel and dash. The interior will also get Adventure signed door sills protectors, cargo mats and all-weather floor mats.
Standard features will include the Tow Prep Package which provides upgraded transmission and radiator coolers. The Trailer Sway Control and Hill-Start Assist will also be standard features. Add to the list of the standard equipment Toyota’s Safety Sense-P suite. This driver assistance equipment includes forward collision warning with automatic emergency braking, adaptive cruise control, automatic high beams, lane departure alert, and pedestrian detection.
The Adventure version will also be available with the Cold Weather Package. There Toyota offers a heated steering wheel, power and heated front seats and wiper de-icer. The Entune infotainment system with the 7-inch center screen is also the part of this adventure.
2018 Toyota RAV4 Adventure: Performance
As we said earlier aside of the increased ride height, there are no substantial upgrades on the off-road performance of the new 2018 Toyota RAV4 Adventure. The model will be powered by the familiar 2.0-liter inline-4 engine which still provides 176 hp and torque of 172 pound-feet. A six-speed automatic transmission is again the part of the game.
The front-wheel drive is available on the RAV4 Adventure with the Automatic Limited Slip Differential. However, an optional Dynamic Torque Control all-wheel-drive system is a must have if you want to spend most of your time away from the paved roads.
2018 Toyota RAV4 Adventure: Availability, Price
The 2018 Toyota RAV4 Adventure will go on sale in September. Toyota is still tight lipped about the price. However, we expect that adventure with this RAV4 will cost less than the current SE version which goes for $29, 985.
