With Ford’s capability and additional touch of style and luxury, Lincoln’s vehicles provide extraordinary driving experience. The smallest in brand’s crossover SUV lineup, the compact MKC model combines the running gear of Ford’s Escape with Lincoln’s sense of style and luxury. The model offers more standard equipment than most of its rivals and with the adaptive suspension option it brings especially flexible ride. The model was all-new for the 2015 model year and the new version will come as the 2018 Lincoln MKC.
What could be changed?
Lincoln hasn’t revealed its plans for the new MKC model. On the other hand, some sources suggesting a new more fuel efficient engine option combined with some styling tweaks and even more standard features.
2018 Lincoln MKC: Styling
The MKC shares most of its underpinning with the Ford Escape but from the visual perspective this model features unique sheet metal and styling elements. Lincoln describes the design of this model as “Graceful athleticism” and indeed this compact crossover looks very attractive. But, Lincoln hasn’t said what changes would be seen on the new 2018 Lincoln MKC. According to some sources this car won’t change much. As things now stand, the split-wing-grille design would likely survive for another model year despite some of the brand’s latest models have adopted a new grille design. The new grille remains as the possibility but we will know that closer to model’s release.
On the other hand, the profile of the model won’t change from the current version. The rear side should also keep up with the full-width taillights. The model should, however, offer the new exterior colors and wheel options should come in 18-, 19- and 20-inch versions.
Inside the cabin of the new MKC, the passengers will enjoy in its quiet and comfortable nature. A high material quality and long list of standard features will be joined with the latest Sync3 infotainment system and advanced driver aids.
An intuitive and responsive infotainment system will be available in all trim options which should return in the same range. The base models will include some features reserved for the higher-spec models. Available in this trim will be leather upholstery, power and heated front seats, driver memory setting, dual-zone climate control, keyless entry and ignition, etc. Upgrades in upper trim levels will include an upgraded leather upholstery, unique exterior and interior accents, 19- and 20-inch wheels, adaptive suspension, heated rear seats and steering wheel, etc.
For the safety purposes, the model will offer a long list of the advanced features. It will get lane departure warning and intervention, blind-spot monitoring with rear cross-traffic alert, frontal collision warning and emergency braking, etc. Most of these features could be available on all versions.
2018 Lincoln MKC: Powertrains, MPG
For the new model year, the 2018 Lincoln MKC could add a new turbocharged engine option. The new engine should be the most fuel efficient version. It should be a 1.5-liter EcoBoost that produces 179 hp and torque of 177 lb-ft in Ford’s Escape. Another possibility is a new automatic transmission.
On the other hand, so far available turbocharged four-cylinder engines should also be on the offer. A 2.0-liter four-cylinder EcoBoost will produce around 240 hp and torque of 270 pound-feet. The fuel economy with this engine will be around 23 mpg on the combined basis.
A more powerful 2.3-liter four-cylinder will provide around 285 hp and torque of 305 lb-ft. The combined fuel economy will be around 21 mpg.
2018 Lincoln MKC: Arrival, Price
With the base price of around $33, 000, the new 2018 Lincoln MKC should be available by the end of this year. The high-end versions will reach $50, 000.
