The new 2018 Jeep Wrangler – All the latest information

The current generation of Jeep’s most capable off-roader, the Wrangler model, is the decade old design. We all know that new generation Wrangler is coming as the 2018 Jeep Wrangler but despite a number of spy photos, leaks and renderings we still missing some important details. Jeep is still very successful in hiding these crucial details and it will likely be more specific sometime closer to Wrangler’s debut which we expect to happen at the Los Angeles Auto Show.

However, when we sublime all available details and photos, it is clear that the upcoming Wrangler has the main mission to evolve into more efferent and tech- equipped vehicle but in the same to remain dominant off-roader and not to lose its old-school charm. Jeep will obviously repeat two- and four-door configurations while the pickup version will likely come sometime later than we expected. New engine options including the diesel version will be served but the hybrid variant should also arrive sometime during the generation lifecycle.

2018 Jeep Wrangler: Design, Platform

Despite the new 2018 Jeep Wrangler tends to be lighter and more efficient, it won’t sacrifice a bit of its off-road capability. The model remains body-on-frame based vehicle and Jeep will also repeat front and rear solid axles. On the other hand, Jeep will try to minimize the weight by using aluminum probably for the hood and door panels. Some adjustments on model’s suspension are also expected.

What is sure, Wrangler’s fans don’t want big changes on mode’s timeless appearance and Jeep knows that. So, Jeep will update the styling of this model but it will preserve most of its old-school charm.

Based on the spy shots, the new Wrangler will continue with the signature elements like the round headlights, seven-piece grille, exposed door hinges and chunky fenders. It will also be available in the two-door and unlimited configurations. However, Jeep will make some changes.

Up front, the signature grille will be slightly inclined backward at its upper section. The model will also move the fog lights to the ends of the front bumper. The turn signals will get their place in the fenders’ area.

The model will also have a more rakish windshield which contributes to the better airflow and also includes the hinges which allow it to be folded forward. The doors will also have exposed hinges which also means that doors can be removed which will also be the case with the roof. The Wrangler will again offer soft or hard top variant and the first should be available in the black or tan options while the latter should come in black or with the colored lids.

At the rear, the model should carry over the rear spare and should feature Renegade inspired taillights.

The cabin of the new Wrangler will be more technologically advanced place than the current generation version. The model will get the new technologies but Jeep will not change the interior design drastically.

The new Wrangler will keep the broad and flat dashboard design and won’t also ditch the circular air vents. However, the center stack will be reconfigured with the new infotainment screen and new controls. The base models will likely get a 5-inch touchscreen infotainment setup. However, the higher-spec versions will likely get responsive and easy to use Uconnect 3.0 platform with the 8.4-inch screen unit. Bellow the center screen, Jeep will place the climate and audio controls. In front of the driver will be retro-styled steering wheel available with the heating feature.

Jeep will likely equip the Wrangler with some advanced safety systems and we expect some additional luxuries. However, these details should emerge closer to mode’s debut.
