Like all major brands, Jeep is also working on its SUV lineup and we already saw the all-new Compass which comes as the replacement for the current Patriot and Compass models. For the 2018 model year, we should also see the redesigned Wrangler as well as this model based pickup truck. But most likely, Jeep would not stop there as heavily refreshed or even all-new Jeep Grand Cherokee should arrive for the 2018 model year. However, Grand Cherokee’s smaller companion, 2018 Jeep Cherokee should also be under revision and evolve in many aspects.
New for 2018:
Jeep reintroduced the Cherokee nameplate for the 2014 model year and this compact crossover SUV should enter to the 2018 model year with the upgrades on almost all fronts. Jeep hasn’t hinted what it has in cards for this model but it is expected that Cherokee might receive the mid-cycle update. The changes should be visible inside and out plus a new engine option could be available.
2018 Jeep Cherokee: Design Changes
When Jeep returned the Cherokee model on the road, it made a departure from the Jeep’s unique front end styling with the specific snout shape that replaced Jeep’s usual upright design. This move certainly made this model unique among other Jeeps and now we expect that 2018 Jeep Cherokee will again make some changes on mode’s front fascia. Actually, the most of the changes for the new model year should be on model’s front end. Some new form of the seven-slot grille and headlights will refresh Cherokee’s face plus the reshaped front bumper.
The new version of this model should also present freshened taillights and new rear bumper. However, the model will likely continue in same proportions and overall shape.
Interior changes and Features:
Interior of the next Cherokee is expected to evolve with the fresh materials and updated features. It is also possible that Jeep would offer an additional trim option with specific styling touches, upgraded seats and high-end features.
On the other hand, all trims will be well-equipped and more standard features should be available. All models will have the tilt-and-telescopic steering wheel, keyless entry, LED DRLs and taillights, etc. The latest Uconnect infotainment system should be the standard feature on all versions except the base Sport model. The buyers will be able to get the leather upholstery, power and heated front seats, automatic climate control, unique interior and exterior accents and more on upper trim levels. The Trailhawk will come with off-road themed exterior and upgraded off-road hardware.
The new Cherokee will also be available with the latest active safety systems. The model will include the adaptive cruise control, lane departure warning, blind-spot monitoring, rear cross-traffic alert, forward collision warning and intervention, etc.
2018 Jeep Cherokee: Performance
When it comes to powering options of the new 2018 Jeep Cherokee, we expect that Jeep could make some changes. The base models will likely be powered by the 2.4-liter four-cylinder engine but it could get power and torque boost. In its current form, this engine provides 184 hp and torque of 171 pound-feet.
The option for this engine should remain a 3.2-liter V-6 which should also see some improvements over the current 271 hp and 239 lb-ft of torque. However, some sources also suggest that the new Cherokee might also add a turbocharged four-cylinder engine. It should have the power potential which could reach 300 hp.
On the other, all 2018 Cherokee models will likely get a nine-speed automatic transmission. The front-wheel drive will be standard and all-wheel drive optional. The model will also be available with the more capable four-wheel drive system for serious off-roading.
2018 Jeep Cherokee: Availability, Price
Jeep should disclose the new 2018 Jeep Cherokee during the first half of this year. Then, we will have more precise details about model’s features. The new Cherokee will go on sale by the end of the year. Anticipated price is from around $25, 000.
